Susie is a third grader, but reading on a second grade level. Susie's current comprehension is at 20%, and reads 62 wpm. Susie should be at a comprehension level of 90%, and should be reading 138 wpm, as is the norm for her peers. Susie has said that she wants to learn to read. When Susie reads aloud, it is halting and she skips difficult words.
Susie is 8 years old, in the 3rd grade. She is very social, creative, and shows a willingness to learn.
She has academic strength in math, but struggles with phonics, which interferes with her comprehension. She is currently reading well below grade level at 62 wpm with 20% comprehension.

Susie had little benefit from extra lessons from the reading specialist increasing her wpm to 63 at the end of 10 weeks.
