Last week we discussed a functional behavioral assessment. In previous weeks, we have discussed how to write Annual Goals based on PLOP. Briefly describe the steps you take to write short term objectives based on PLOP and Annual Goals.
Objectives are fine points from each goal. There can only be one outcome per goal and each outcome needs to be measurable. Ex. Students will be able to do x given y with z% accuracy.
One must take the PLOP and the Annual Goals, and from those, create the short term objectives that will allow the student to reach the Annual Goals. These goals must be measureable, and there must be a way to assess these short term goals to see if they are working for the student.
Short term objectives are "small steps" that help the student reach their annual or "ultimate" goal. For example if a student is to read 40 wpm, you could set a short term (9 week goal) of 20 w/ 85% accuract and general increase the numbers as it gets closer to the annual goal.
To write short term objectives based on PLOP one needs to assess different forms of data. (tests, observations, CBMs) to determine what specific things need to be taught and then determine if they were learned or not through more assessment. Annual goals should be made up of short term objectives and give students a specific time period to achieve the goals.
Short Term Objectives are created by using the Annual Goals. They are benchmarks toward the Annual Goals, they are created to help scaffold growth to reach said goals.
